With Advent a few days away, some parishes will collect their traditional Advent offerings for the support of Anglican missions. The Anglican Bible and Book Society encourages parishes to consider aiding fellow traditional Anglicans this year. By donating as little as $200, a parish can outfit a small Anglican mission with new prayer books.

The Society can provide ten copies of the 1928 Book of Common Prayer to small mission churches for a cost of $200. The simple gift of ten prayer books will allow a small mission to conserve its resources for other important expenses such as paying rent, purchasing bread and wine for Holy Communion, or keeping the electricity on. With the generous donation of $200, an established parish can help a new mission worship the Lord in reverence and with appropriate celebration of the liturgy of the prayer book.

Alternatively, parishes may provide ten copies of the 1940 Hymnal for the same amount of $200. Or, for a total gift of $400, the good will and Christian charity of parishioners may supply a mission with both prayer books and hymnals.

If you or your parish would like to support a mission by providing prayer books or hymnals, please send in your contribution by check, money order, or credit/debit card. Please designate your gift for either “prayer books” or “hymnals” or both.

For every donation of $200 or more for this Advent project, the Society will provide a written report to the sponsoring parish about the receiving mission church.
